Hebraic Musing – Why do we focus so much on our outside appearance?
The
Duomo di Milano[1] was and still is my favorite building in all
of Europe. Why? The exterior was impressive, but what really spoke to me was
the detail that went into the carvings and masonry work on the roof in hidden
away places. The craftsmanship of those artists working in the unseen areas
spoke to me of the importance of caring for the unseen areas in my life. The
roof, the inside and the hidden areas are every bit as well-made, artistic and
cared for as the outside
.
This
observation of mine reminded me of what Yeshua said in red letters in
Matt.15:17-20 Jesus asked them. “Don't you see that whatever enters the mouth
goes into the stomach and then out of the body? But the things that come
out of the mouth come from the heart, and these make a man ‘unclean.’ For out
of the heart come evil thoughts, murder, adultery, sexual immorality, theft,
false testimony, slander. These are what make a man ‘unclean’; but eating
with unwashed hands does not make him ‘unclean.’”
This
site is a ‘must’ on our next European tour.
Point
to ponder
Is God more concerned with our ‘inside’ or our ‘outside’ appearance?
