Musing – Why is that third strand of cord so important?

Hebraic Musing – Why is that third strand of cord so important?

Here is a treasure nestled in the original Hebrew language in Genesis 2:24 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and be united to his wife, and they will become one flesh.  NIV
Man/Husband   vya  (eeysh)                      (Hebrew is read right to left.)
Aleph, Yod, Shin        or symbolically  “strength, hand of God, peace”
Wife    hva  (Ish-shah)
Aleph, Shin, Hei         or “strength, peace, God’s breath
So when husband and wife come together, the husband has God’s hand (Yod); and the wife has God’s breath (Hei) to make the marriage work. A successful marriage requires God to be working in the two of them.
But if the husband and wife do not accept God’s hand and breath, then we take out the Yod  y  hand of God from “husband,” leaving Aleph Shin  va.
And if we take out the Hei h God’s breath from “wife,” we are also left with Aleph Shin  va..
They are both left with aysh,  Aleph Shin, va, which is Hebrew for “fire.”   In Israel you quickly recognize  va  above all the fire extinguishers!
Moral of this treasure: God is the critical third strand in a marriage.  A husband without God’s hand or a wife without the breath of God results in destructive “fire.”  So a marriage without God, without His hand and breath, is “fire.”
Points to Ponder
Did Yeshua foresee this when he wrote the Word, the Torah?
Do we recognize the importance of God’s role in our marriage?
Does this make you want to learn more Hebrew,
the original language of God’s Word?
